Firework attack on teens
TWO teenagers were lucky to escape without serious injury when they wereattacked with fireworks.

The assault resulted in the youngsters receiving injuries to their legsand feet when three young white men drove past and threw the fireworks atthem on Saturday afternoon.

A campaign to cut Bonfire Night nuisance was launched yesterday asmischief-makers were warned by police, firefighters and firework firmsthat their actions would not be tolerated.

South Yorkshire's public safety services enrolled the help of the ChineseFirework Company in London Road, Sheffield, to get the message across atthe start of this year's Operation Mischief.

Fire bosses are still looking into what happened at a explosion at afireworks factory in which two firefighters were killed.

Earlier this week the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) announced it waslifting its ban on the storage of fireworks at the Marlie Farm site.

FIRE bosses are issuing a stark warning to stores illegally sellingfireworks.

West Yorkshire Fire Service says it investigates any complaints aboutillegal sales and storage of fireworks, and those convicted can face afine of up to œ5,000 and confiscation of the fireworks.

Bid to stop noise rocketing around fireworks night
A CRACKDOWN on `volume crime' has been launched to stop boozed-upteenagers setting off fireworks during Hallowe'en and Guy Fawkes Night.

Operation Outcry will target hotspot areas in West Berkshire, includingTilehurst and Calcot, where police experienced a large increase in `volumecrime' this time last year.
