The Oliver family are grateful for all the messages of support that they are
receiving. Spencer remains sedated, while it is hoped that the recovery
process is taking place.

Sunday 3rd May 1998 - 9.30am
Spencer underwent a 3 hour operation to remove a blood-clot from the
brain. His condition is described as critical but stable. The operation
was carried out at the National Hospital for Neurology in Queen Square,
London.
Saturday 2nd May 1998
Sergei Devakov proved to be a worthy opponent for Spencer Oliver and
consequently lifted the European Super Bantamweight Title.
Spencer was treated for a considerable amount of time after the
knockout, and left the ring on a stretcher. He was taken to Charing Cross
Hospital, and was soon after transferred to a hospital specialising in
neurology. At midnight 2nd/3rd May his condition is described as
critical.
